The Pounds Act deals with livestock animals. Under the Act. if a livestock if found running at large it is the responsibilty of the resident to pick up and drop off the animal at the local pound keeper for the municipality. I have a couple of questions:
1) The Township no longer has a pound keeper. Are we actually required to have one? and if not what advise do you give the resident who has an animal on their property other than a dog?
2) How do other municipalities deal with livestock running at large on their municipal property i.e. roads or during an emergency situation such as an evacution etc.? We receive calls from the OPP asking for assistance.
